Tomorrow I will be sending home a note with the students that includes a class list of names to be used for filling out valentine's Day cards. Our Valentine's party will be on Monday the 14th, which is the same day that we will be exchanging the cards. If your list mysteriously vanishes on the way home, please let me know and I will be sure to send another one out with your student. Quick reminder: Bank at School is Thursday!!!

Core: deepest layer of the Earth
Mantle: thickest layer of Earth (made of solid & melted rock)
Crust: layer of Earth that includes land and the ocean floor
Plates: continent-sized slabs that makeup the crust and upper mantle
Fault: break in Earth’s crust along which rocks move
Earthquake: shaking of the Earth’s crust
Epicenter: point on Earth’s surface right above the focus of an earthquake
Focus: the underground point where an earthquake first starts
Seismograph: instrument that records earthquake waves
